Meet Eduardo - Desert Tortoise!
Age: Adult
Length: ~~9.5" long.
Adoption Fee: $65
As of 23 September 2024, all adoptions for Tortoises and Box Turtles are closed for the season. These animals, where appropriate to the species, are going into hibernation. We encourage interested adopters to review minimum habitat requirements, design an appropriate outdoor pen, and submit an adoption application for adoption in the next year. In this way, you will be approved and ready to adopt as soon as animals emerge from hibernation, ~mid-May 2025.
Eduardo comes from the St. George, UT area and was once part of a study to determine treatment options for Tortoise mycoplasmosis, an upper respiratory infection. While Eduardo has been free of symptoms for at least a decade, this tortoise cannot be house with any other turtles/tortoises. Eduardo has spent many years at CoRHS, grazing on free-growing grasses, and box-hibernation during the winter. Habitat requirements: https://www.corhs.org/index.php?get=content&pageid=127
