a better life

April 28, 2008

Thanks to our many volunteers who oparticipated in 2 events: the Pet Expo in Denver and I Volunteer! Day here at the shelter.

I Volunteer! Day
helped us get started on a new and very large box turtle pen that will demonstrate both a health ourdoor habitat for turtles and how such a pen can look great in your own back yard! This new habitat is made possible from a grant from the American Humane Soceity's Meachum Fund.

Volunteers dug a new water pond for box turtles, dug trenches for a new picket fence, and cleaned all our existing habitat of weeds and other debris. CoRHS is ready for spring and summer thanks to participants hard work!

At the Pet Expo CoRHS met with attendees who were curious about reptile pets, wanted more information about their pet, or who simply had no idea a humane society existed for these animals. We had a great time meeting you! Our mascot iguana was Flutie, who was recently adopted from CoRHS and already giving back to the shelter.

Our second annual North American Box Turtle Workshop will be May 3rd.
Spaces are limited!  Register now by e-mailing eric@corhs.org.
